Artist Talk #4 - Jon Pountney

Bit Studios presents:

Talk #4 : Jon Pountney - Horizontal Archaeology

"My work today is inspired by memory, nostalgia, social history and community and I work across a variety of mediums. Primarily I use film and digital photography but I am equally as comfortable and proficient painting or using video or super8 to present my work. A very important component in my work is social media, allowing the audience a level of interaction, collaboration, and participation that would have been impossible 10 years ago. I have a proven track record in bringing community involvement to projects, opening up artistic practice to audiences alienated by conventional presentations in galleries. "

The event is completely FREE and everyone is welcome.

7pm - Doors Open

8pm - Jon Pountney - Horizontal Archaeology (no entry after this point)

See you there!!

Cross Studio Cardiff

An informal discussion group who meet monthly at a different art studio. During each meeting several host artists will open their studios to the group in order to inspire a lively critical discussion. The meeting offers the host artists a chance to gain valuable peer-to-peer feedback about their work, ideas and motivations. The mission is to create links between studio groups and promote critical appreciation of visual art.

The group is open to all regardless of discipline, you don't have to have a studio or call yourself an artist. Please come along for an inspiring discussion, an insight into how different artists work and a post-discussion social in the local pub.

BIT Studios is happy to be hosting the next Cross Studio Cardiff on Wednesday 27th August.

Those with a studio, working in their bedroom, backyard or anywhere (and everyone in between) are welcome to come and join in with the discussion!

Artist Talk #3 - Rebecca Wyn Kelly

B I T are happy to announce the third in our artist talk series from Cardiff-based Artist/Curator Rebecca Wyn Kelly. Graduating from Central St. Martins, Rebecca has been involved in hundreds of projects, lending her complete enthusiasm and unique direction to the likes of Milgi, Something Creatives, Art in the Warehouse amongst the few.

Rebecca’s practice is an investigation into people and their possessions. She is equally interested in how we respond to the things we choose to surround ourselves with and the stuff we are prepared to disregard.

Join us on the 10th July, 7-10pm to hear Rebecca talk about Project Object Exchange, the current threads of her practice and contribute to an ongoing shadow drawing project.
